Building Strong Foundations. Growing the Game. Preparing for Whatโs Next.
MTLC Boys Youth Lacrosse competes in the San Diego Youth Lacrosse Association (SDYLA) and provides a recreation-based program focused on access, fundamentals, and long-term development.
As a recreational SDYLA program, we emphasize:
- Strong foundational skills
- Game understanding and IQ
- Positive competition
- Teamwork and sportsmanship
We focus on preparing athletes not just for this season โ but for the seasons ahead.
Our Philosophy
Access & Opportunity
We believe lacrosse should be available to all boys who want to learn the game. Our program creates an inclusive, supportive environment where players can begin or continue their lacrosse journey.
Fundamentals First
We teach:
- Proper passing and catching mechanics
- Ground ball fundamentals
- Defensive positioning and footwork
- Shooting technique
- Lacrosse rules and situational awareness
Strong fundamentals at the youth level build confident, capable players.
Development Over Wins
As a recreation-based program within SDYLA, our priority is growth.
We measure success by:
- Improvement
- Effort
- Coachability
- Understanding the game
Preparing for the Next Level
For players interested in club or advanced play, MTLC provides the foundation and habits needed to transition confidently into more competitive environments.
